Client: GIZ Zambia
Description: GIZ Zambia is running the Global Project: Promotion of Agricultural Finance for Agri-based Enterprises in Rural Areas (GV AgFin) in rural Zambia to train farmers on financial literacy to improve their personal and farm management skills and subsequently improve their livelihoods. Ichuli worked alongside a local partner in Zambia called Agova Consulting to develop and pilot training materials for 1,000 rural farmers in Southern, Eastern and Central Zambia.
Ichuli designed 30-minute training sessions about savings, loan taking, agriculture insurance, investment and financial management. Sessions also emphasized creating linkages between farmers and financial institutions. Sessions were designed to be interactive and participant-centered with rich and relevant illustrations that follow a fictional Zambian family through the agricultural cycle. Following the farmer training, GIZ staff were trained on delivering the farmer trainings to ensure sustainability of the training concept.
